Is there a limit to how much I can use my Internet connection?
Xanadoo routinely monitors network activity to determine unusual or excessive bandwidth usage which can adverserly impact other users of our service. In extreme cases, we may reduce or suspend service temporarily after notifying you of any unusual or excessive usage situations.

What does "Internet-On-The-Go" mean?
Available only in Springfield. Xanadoo offers a unique portable modem called the Internet-On-The-Go Laptop Card. It plugs directly into your laptop and keeps you connected anywhere in your service area—from the local café to the neighborhood park, to your home or office. Click here to learn more.

What are the minimum system requirements to use Xanadoo service?
Your computer must have a 300 MHz processor, 128 Meg RAM, Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista or MAC OS X and Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher (or equivalent browser) to receive Xanadoo service.

Will I need a phone line or cable service to connect to the Internet?
No. There are no phone lines or cable service required to use Xanadoo, and your service is always connected—with no busy signals or slow dial-up modems!

Are Macintosh computers compatible with Xanadoo?
Yes. Any computer with an Ethernet port/adapter is able to connect to the Xanadoo network.

Can I use any Internet browser with Xanadoo?
Yes. All of the major browsers function properly with Xanadoo.

Can I use other ISPs (such as AOL) with Xanadoo?
Yes. Customers can access AOL and other ISP portals through the Internet. However, Xanadoo will not offer phone support for AOL, MSN, or any other provider's software.

Can I use any email program with Xanadoo?
Yes. All major email programs work with Xanadoo.

Will my connection be fast enough for on-line multi-player games?
Yes. These times may vary, depending on distance to the transmitting tower and environmental conditions.

Will any ports or Internet sites be blocked?
We generally block port 25 unless a customer has a static IP address.  Additionally, Xanadoo reserves the right to block any ports that it deems necessary to ensure network performance. An example would be a virus that spreads itself via a non-standard TCP/IP port.

Do I have to buy any equipment?
Yes - a wireless modem. Xanadoo offers 2 great wireless modem options - our "Zero-Install" Dektop Modem and our "Internet-On-The-Go" laptop card (available only in Springfield). Pricing information is listed with all our service plan detail. If you wish to purchase accessories (i.e., routers, batteries, etc.) you will have to purchase such equipment separately.

Do I have to install any software?
Not with the Zero-Install Desktop Modem. It's instant plug-n-play set-up that only takes a few minutes. With our Internet-On-The-Go Laptop Card (available only in Springfield), there are simple drivers that need to be installed from the CD provided. The only other software needed is a Web browser and a standard email package, which you probably already have on your computer. We suggest Internet Explorer and Outlook Express, but any standard software packages will work.

What is the relationship between Xanadoo and Cisco Systems?

Is Xanadoo a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) or a fixed IP (Internet Protocol) address?
Our Residential plans are provided through DHCP. Our Small Business plans are provided through a fixed IP.

What will the limits be, if any, for the size and speed of FTP downloads?
As with any Internet connection, the limitations will vary depending upon the content being downloaded as well as where the content is being downloaded from. Xanadoo cannot be responsible for networks outside of its own.

What is the latency of the connection?
Latency will typically be less than 90ms. These times may vary depending on distance to the transmitting tower and environmental conditions.

How can I make my monthly payment?
Xanadoo accepts a valid credit/debit card for automatic and convenient bill pay without late charges.
